Briefly About Pension:

The word ‘Pension’ has not been defined yet. However, earlier this used to mean periodical payments of money to a pensioner. Subsequently, in the orders passed by the Hon’ble Apex Court of the country against numbers of cases, the pension is declared as “Right” and “Property” of the govt. servant.

  • So far as Directorate of Pension Assam is concerned, it is applicable to all the teaching and non teaching staff of schools and the employees of Panchayati Raj Institutions under P&RD department, whose services are, provincialised through relevant Acts of GoA.
  • AS (P) Rules 1969 is not applicable to direct recruitee in services of the state on or after 1st Feb, 2005.
  • Government Employees who join on or after 1st February 2005 are governed by a national pension system adopted by GoA through OM No. BW.3/2003/Pt.II/1 dated 25/01/2005 and BW.7/2008/Pt./40 dated 06/10/2009.
